The resume doesn’t necessarily get you the job, but it sure helps! The more you can show that you are able to solve your next employer’s issues, the quicker you’ll be hired for the job!
The resume is a necessary piece of one’s “job tackle box”, to be sure. But the client has to do some soul-searching and preparatory work to see where he/she might be competitive, and how to target your resume so it hits the sweet spot with the hiring manager.
